1 March

 eBird data: https://ebird.org/checklist/S82589122

Weather:  8 am 8C, wind E4, 1pm 13C, wind S11 gust 32

Tide:  10:30 3.5m, falling

A warm morning, and sunny, with scattered clouds.  LBBs abundant, and the paths gradually clearing.

To my delight, red-wing blackbird song.  The bird is barely visible at the top of the fir tree just to the right of centre in the photo below.

And then, more visible--a strange photo--I think it demands a caption.

A fine light and clouds across the fields this morning.

The tide was well out, and there were abundant wigeons as well as other species.

There is an increasing number of brant arriving.  I haven't managed any photos--they tend to fly past well offshore, but soon the brant migration will be in full numbers.

After a patch of high and muddy water, the river is low but clear.

I've volunteered to take part in a Scotch broom clearing team tomorrow morning, weather permitting.   It's gloriously beautiful on the hills of Scotland, but a nuisance here, and the local naturalist association takes on clearing.  I look forward to meeting them.
