5 November

eBird data:   https://ebird.org/checklist/S75869748

Weather:  mild, scattered clouds 10-12C, wind WNW 6-8 kph

Tide:  8 am 4.5m

Another warm, mild morning, scattered clouds.

Very birdy on the path headed into the estuary, with many songbirds, and ravens and eagles soaring overhead.

The path is still flooded in spots.

The hooded mergansers were still on the pond.

The path to the shore was very boggy, and there was a strange track following it for some distance--large, looked feline.  No claw marks apparent in the prints.

The river has risen more, and is very muddy.

The area in the mountains above Parksville is heavily logged and the run-off is apparent.

The dipper was nowhere in evidence.  His usual logs and roots are submerged.  He's a robust little creature, and I expect he's found himself a different roost.

The shrubbery on the path back to my home seemed was full of Bewick's wrens.  Although they are typically secretive, this one was very cooperative and hung around for lots of photos.

Until another day.
