Weather:  Unseasonably warm.  9 am 15C

Tide:  8:30 am, 4.5m, falling

The morning after a day of very heavy rain, described as "tropical moisture."  and after the US election, which didn't make for a restful night.  A very high tide, and paths that were submerged.

Still, better to wade in the paths than to continue looking at inconclusive news reports.  And, although the morning started out grey and drizzly, the sun broke through at least briefly.

The hooded mergansers have returned to the pond.

Offshore, big flocks of mergansers and wigeons.  And again, a very high tide.

Contrast with the same view at mid-tide.

The snow pack on the Arrowsmith massif is gone, and the river is rising.

I find myself wondering how the dipper is managing all this, but sure enough--there he is, on what remains of an island in the rapids.

He was singing, softly, and gathering bugs from the leaves on the limbs that had washed into the stream.

It began to rain, again, and I put the raincoat on my camera and made my way home.
