14 June
Finally, a gloriously clear day, but rather windy.
The massif shone, and is still snow-capped. I think it makes a nice backdrop against the roses.Very big tides just now. I'm missing the high tides, which have happened at night, although I can hear the surf from my bedroom.
It was quite birdy despite the wind. There were more birds to hear than could be seen, but this quail and his lady friend were easily spotted.
...She was relatively quiet but the male was very vocal.
There was an unusual sighting for the Estuary: a juvenile red-tailed hawk circled.
Not a great photo, but my bird in flight shots are improving a bit.
15 June
Well, that's the date, although it remains nothing like June here. Today remained cloudy and a bit chilly. It's now raining again, which is ok, kinda, because I sowed grass seed in what passes for a lawn around the double-wide today, and I'd like to see it grow a bit. I definitely have the most miserable excuse for a lawn in the whole park...Really just a weed patch. I know it's late to try to do anything with a lawn but then again, although the calendar thinks it's nearing the solstice, it still feels like about April.
Again, a very low tide, I guess in part related to the full moon.
I sat for some time listening to what sounded like an exchange of insults between a bald eagle and a young raven. Didn't manage to record it, unfortunately, but as I understand, they were saying, "Your mother ate worms." "Your father was a budgie..." Harsh things like that. It went on for some time. Interesting folks, birds.
Not much else to note today.
Tomorrow, if the weather dries up again, is a brooming day, just along the road from here. That would be good--I've been looking at the stand of broom increasing out the back of our park with some concern.
