Two summer mornings, separated by a couple of days of minor details.

It does appear that the bird population is down a bit, but also the dense foliage makes spotting and photographing more difficult than it has been.  That said, the Estuary remains beautiful and constantly changing.  Among other things, the grass and the berry vines have grown rampant.  The paths are still visible, but often either wet with dew early in the morning or so full of pollen that one walks through clouds.

I've always found the way in which sunlight illumines grasses a source of wonder.

...last Wednesday as I was walking I met a woman (not a birder--talking at great length with her companion about investments) who asked me loudly, "SO DID YOU SEE ANYTHING EXCITING?"  I couldn't figure out how to answer that one.  I don't actually think birding is what I'd call exciting very often.  Mostly it's just quietly pleasing, like this rufous hummingbird visiting a feeder.

I know other visitors to the Estuary share my delight in the skies--there's the word--"delight."

Wednesday morning's skies were bright.  Although the wind on the ground was calm, there must have been wind at altitude.

Today started out looking very ominous, but never actually materialised in anything but very light sprinkles.   I thought this combination of dark clouds and a sunlit field rather striking.

The tidal marsh is showing more green as the season advances.

So, although not "exciting," a pleasing couple of walks.   Tomorrow is my day for domestic chores so no walk.  Monday looks to be fair weather, and another day of exploration.
